👺 Why the Tengu emoji? In Japanese folklore, Tengu are the mountain guardians of Mt. Kurama in Kyoto — the place associated with Mikao Usui’s training. I use the tengu mark here as a small signpost for essentials: discipline, protection, and clear seeing in practice, and as a sign of respect to all that the Tengu teach us on our journey.

Step into both the "Inner Teachings" and the "Mystery Teachings" of Usui Reiki Ryōhō with clear guidance and steady support. Your course package includes all course content across Okuden and Shinpiden, and upon completion, you will become a 5th-generation teacher and practitioner of traditional Usui Reiki Ryōhō!

Okuden — Level Two

Your Usui Reiki Ryōhō courses at Roots of Life connect you to the living lineage of the practice from Kyoto. I return to Japan yearly to work with Reiki, at the very roots of the practice - and I bring that understanding directly back to my students.

Complete Shoden, Okuden, and Shinpiden with me to step forward as a 5th-generation practitioner.
If you’re transferring in, we’ll review your background and fill any gaps with mentoring and materials.

Okuden — depth, symbols, and integration

We refine stillness, introduce the symbols as living tools, and bring practice into daily life with clarity.

Use symbols in real sessions without feeling mechanical or forced - the opening of "Being" not "Doing".
Exploring the full and complex depth of each symbol.
Learn what "Okuden" really asks of us - turning inward to begin to feel the same journey Usui Sensei took.
Forming a deep connection to the stories, myths, and presence of Mt. Kurama (the birthplace of Reiki) and begin to see how the mountain is a mirror for your own journey inward.

Master Level · Certification pathway

Shinpiden — The "Mystery" teachings

Here we bring the pieces together. You will begin to internalize the state of "Being" within Reiki and begin to work deeply on attachment and belief.

Learning and incorporating the master Reiki symbol and exploring its true meaning and context.
Understanding how all of the symbols within Reiki work in tandem with each other and how this impacts your own internal state.
Learn how to perform the attunement ritual for others, and explore a deeper understanding of what it means to "attune" others to Reiki
Emerge as a 5th-generation practitioner with a direct Japanese Reiki lineage.
